So what do we have instead?

New Year Dokkan Festival Step-Up Summon

With this banner you will have the chance of getting a guaranteed LR. The festival works by spending

20 stones on the first step to obtain an extreme Z awakened character.

40 stones on the second step to obtain a super type leader.

40 stones on the third step to get an extreme type leader.

50 stones on the fourth step to get a guaranteed category leader.

50 stones on the fifth step to get get a potential LR character.

Event Period

December 31st 2018 to January 28th 2019

Details of the Banner

For the 1st step you have a guarantee of obtaining one of the following: INT Ultimate Gohan, PHY Frieza, AGL Super Saiyan 3 Goku, TEQ Perfect Cell, STR Legendary Super Saiyan Broly

For the 2nd step you’ll have a guarantee of obtaining one of the following: PHY Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks, INT super Gogeta, TEQ Super Saiyan 3 Goku Angel, STR Super Saiyan 4 Goku, AGL Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta

For the 3rd step you have a guarantee of obtaining one of the following: TEQ Super Saiyan 3 Broly, STR Super Janemba, INT Buu Kid, AGL Super 17, PHY Cooler final form

For the 4th step you have the guarantee of obtaining one of the following: AGL Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Vegeta, PHY Android 17, AGL Turles, INT Super Saiyan 3 Bardock, STR Jiren, INT Golden Frieza Angel, PHY Super Vegito, STR Ultimate Gohan, INT Goku Ultra Instinct, TEQ Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta, PHY Omega Shenron

Should I roll on this Banner or Broly?

So there's a couple of things that we have to establish before we answer this question.

1. The Broly Banner isn't available currently but is rumored to be out within this month to promote the new movie.

2. Depends on how many stones you have.

3. Youtubers rolling on the JP Broly banner have been able to obtain 3 of the featured units on 400 stones or 0 of the featured units on 6000 stones.

4. You are guaranteed an LR on the current banner for 200 stones. You can roll on this banner a maximum of 2 times for 2 guaranteed LR’s.

5. The new Gogeta and Broly units are recognized as a tier above the current units in Dokkan

My Advice as a F2P player:

Everyone should continue to save up stones. There's no reason for you to roll on this banner right now because it will still be available up until the 28th.

So from here, this leaves us with two situations one where you have over 400 stones and one where you have under 400 stones.

If you have over 400 Stones currently you should wait until the very last day the 28th. If there's a possibility that the Broly event comes out before the 28th you should roll on the Broly event. Role until you have exactly 400 stones and then you can decide whether or not you want to use the remaining 400 stones on the Broly event or you want to use it to obtain to guaranteed LR units. Personally, if I have obtained both Gogeta and the Broly before hitting my 400 stones, I will use those 400 stones to get the LR units.

If you have under 400 stones I would still wait until the very last day, the 28th before deciding how to use them. I would continue to earn stones and try to put myself in a scenario where I would have over 400 stones. If I couldn't reach 400 stones, I would roll on Broly until I had 200 stones and then decide whether to us the rest on the LR banner or the Broly banner. If I have less than 200 stones I would personally roll on the Broly banner if I am confident with my current team.

However, my advice changes if you are a very fresh, new free-to-play player. My girlfriend being on of those new players was given this same advice. It would be more advantageous to get the guaranteed LR units from the current banner using the stones that you currently have. I do not believe there is a way for her to earn 400 stones with the limited time that she puts in the game to get Gogeta, Broly and the LR units. the 4th established fact listed above is what is influencing this advice. In general, as a new player, it would be better for you to get guaranteed good units, than to have a chance to get a great one. If you enjoy the game because of the good units that you obtained, you'll have a greater chance of playing long enough to see the Gogeta and Broly Banner come back again.
